I'm a shorts editor, mostly - clips cut out of long talking-head videos and
podcasts. That's what's in the portfolio.
I'm a little obsessed with openings. I've spent a lot of time going through
channels in the tech, business, finance and podcast niches, just watching how their
videos start, and it's almost always the same story: forty seconds of hello and
please subscribe, and the actual point turns up at 1:20. In a short you get about
a second before someone swipes, so that's the entire job - find the line that
earns the next five seconds, and cut everything that doesn't.
What I do with footage: cut to the first real sentence, take out the filler and the
dead air, write the captions by hand because auto-subs look like auto-subs, put
b-roll where the words actually need it, a simple graphic on any number worth
remembering, and fix the audio, because nobody forgives bad audio.
If what you need is long-form, I'd rather show you than tell you: send me one of
your videos and I'll re-cut ninety seconds of it, before and after. Takes me about
a day.
I'm free right now, so turnaround is quick.
