I’m looking for a freelance editor to help develop the long-form storytelling on Sailing Seafinn, starting with one paid episode and potentially building an ongoing collaboration.
The first project
An approximately 10–15 minute episode following our sail from the Bahamas to Canada, the first stage of a journey towards Greenland. The story follows a new crew settling into life at sea, good sailing, thunderstorms, the transition into cold northern waters and arrival in Canada.
I’ll provide organised footage, my recorded voiceover and a story outline. I’d welcome your creative input on structure and pacing, alongside editing, sound, music and colour correction. The footage comes from several cameras and includes some vertical clips.
The style
Personal, reflective adventure storytelling with an engaging opening, natural sound and a clear narrative. I want viewers to feel part of the journey and get to know the people aboard.
Working arrangement
We’ll start with one paid trial episode, working remotely. The videos are in English. DaVinci Resolve would be convenient, and I’m open to discussing other workflows.
Potential ongoing work
Upcoming projects include Sailing Njord, a mainly solo expedition down Norway’s coast in a traditional open wooden boat, combining sailing, fishing, camping and coastal history. This is planned as a 12–14 episode YouTube series in summer 2027.
To apply
Please include:
- Two relevant long-form videos you personally edited and your role in each.
- Your proposed approach to this episode.
- Your price for the trial and what it includes, including revisions.
- Your availability, estimated turnaround and editing software.
Travel, outdoor or documentary examples are particularly welcome. We can review the footage and agree on the scope before starting.
