Description

I started as a filmmaker, not an editor, and that distinction shapes everything about how I work. My background is in cinematic wedding storytelling, where the job isn't just documenting a day, it's finding the emotional throughline in someone's real life and shaping it into something they'll want to watch again in ten years. That meant learning to read a story before I ever touched a timeline: what moment is this really about, what does the audience need to feel, and what does the footage actually give me to work with.

That instinct is what I bring to long-form YouTube content. Most editing advice treats retention as a technical problem faster cuts, more zooms, louder pattern interrupts. I treat it as a storytelling problem first. A slow intro isn't losing viewers because it's slow; it's losing them because it hasn't earned their attention yet. I build edits around pacing that serves the story being told, not spectacle for its own sake, which is a different skill than just knowing the software.

A recent milestone: I completed my first full narrative wedding film from start to finish discovery interviews, story development, shot planning, production, and edit for a couple whose relationship had real structural gaps in the footage (a long-distance stretch with no dedicated coverage). Instead of forcing a chronological retelling, I restructured the edit around emotional beats instead of a timeline, which ended up being a stronger film than the "safe" version would have been. It taught me that constraints are often where the best creative decisions come from.

What I think I offer that's harder to find: most editors are either technically skilled or narratively minded rarely deeply both. I can take a creator's raw, unpolished long-form footage and find the story inside it, then execute the technical craft pacing, sound design, color, pattern interrupts in service of that story, not as decoration on top of it. I'm not chasing trend-driven editing styles; I'm trying to make things people actually remember.
