Short-Form Video Editor: Tech & Fitness
Midas Media Ltd. is hiring a freelance short-form video editor for Tomi | Midas (@techbymidas) and MIDASMVMT (@midasmvmt).

The role covers both fitness and tech, with a distinct style for each brand.
This is fully remote freelance work, open worldwide, starting on a pay-per-video basis. There is potential for an ongoing monthly retainer once fit, consistency and workload are established.

What you’ll do
- Build strong hooks, clear story progression and satisfying endings.
- Select strong takes and tighten delivery while preserving the creator’s personality.
- Match B-roll accurately to narration, exercise instructions and product features.
- Create readable captions, animated text, callouts, supporting illustrations and motion graphics.
- Use effects, transitions, music and sound design purposefully.
- Clean up dialogue and maintain consistent colour and audio.
- Turn supplied long-form footage into shorts with their own context and payoff.
- Follow brand guidelines, sponsor requirements, confidentiality and product embargoes.
- Flag missing footage or unclear instructions early.
- Deliver organised, editable projects with their required media and assets.
We provide creative direction, scripts or key points, recordings and available footage. You should be comfortable making thoughtful editorial decisions without needing every cut explained.
What we’re looking for
- Relevant experience editing narrated, talking-head or product-focused shorts.
- Confident motion graphics skills beyond basic caption templates.
- Good typography, composition and visual judgment.
- Ability to adapt between two brands while maintaining consistent quality.
- Attention to accuracy in exercise demonstrations, product details and on-screen text.
- Reliable turnaround, clear communication and proactive problem-solving.
Scope and deliverables
A standard short is up to 60 seconds. Some assignments may be longer, with the length and scope agreed before work begins.
A standard assignment includes:
- Editing from supplied footage and narration.
- B-roll selection from supplied assets.
- Captions and supporting motion graphics.
- Audio finishing and colour correction.
- Final exports and consolidated, editable source files.
- Revisions within the agreed brief until we are satisfied with and approve the video. There is no fixed revision-round limit within that brief.
Changes to the agreed concept, script or scope will be discussed separately before additional work begins.
We want to develop reusable graphics and editing treatments for each brand.
Long-form videos, if added to the role, will be scoped and priced separately before work begins.
Payment and initial trial
Paid test — US$20
Shortlisted applicants will complete one US$15 paid test with the scope and deadline agreed upfront.
The test will use supplied assets and assess storytelling, pacing, visual judgment, captions, motion graphics, audio and basic colour correction.
It includes revisions within the agreed brief until we are satisfied with and approve the test video, plus an organised, editable project handoff. There is no fixed revision-round limit within the agreed test brief.
Paid trial: US$25 per completed short
Candidates who progress will begin a paid trial at US$25 per completed short, covering different content types across fitness and tech.
The trial will normally span 5–10 videos, depending on how quickly we can assess quality, consistency, communication and fit. We may conclude the assessment earlier if the fit is clear.
All completed trial assignments are paid at the agreed trial rate.
Progression: US$35 per completed short
Once the required standard is demonstrated and we confirm progression, the rate increases to US$35 per completed short for subsequent assignments.
There is potential for regular ongoing work and a monthly retainer once fit and workload are established.
The revision and editable source-file requirements apply throughout the test, trial and ongoing work.
How to apply
Please include:
- Three to five relevant finished videos, ideally spanning both fitness and tech. Explain exactly what you contributed.
- Examples of motion graphics or illustrations you created.
- Whether you are comfortable working across both categories. If you can only handle fitness or only tech, say so clearly.
- Which category you consider your strongest, even if you are confident in both.
- Which category you would prefer for the first paid test, and why.
- Your editing and motion graphics software.
- Your typical turnaround and monthly availability.
- Confirmation that you accept the US$20 paid test, US$25-per-short trial rate and progression to US$35 per short once progression is confirmed, including revisions within the agreed brief until we are satisfied and approve the video, with no fixed revision-round limit, and delivery of organised, editable source files.
Please be candid about your strengths and limitations. We’re looking for someone whose editing quality, reliability and judgment consistently reduce the work required from the creator.
